Saint Paul to Kuwait February 25th, 2012 Serving Our Troops successfully completed our 9th project and largest since 2004 bringing together an international shared meal for soldiers serving overseas in Kuwait and their family members back home in Minnesota. 50 volunteers traveled nearly seven thousand miles from Minnesota to Kuwait to grill up over 13,000 12-ounce steaks for both deployed Minnesota National Guard soldiers and their fellow soldiers from across the US. The 2,700 Minnesota National Guard soldiers hail from over 500 Minnesota Commuities. Serving Our Troops visited all five Kuwait bases where the 1st Brigade Combat Team Red Bull Soldiers operated including Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring, Camp Virginia, Ali Al Salem and Camp Patriot at the Kuwait Naval Base. Back home in Minnesota at the Saint Paul Rivercentre, nearly 300 volunteers from Delta Airlines, AT&T, Hubbard Broadcasting, Morrisey Hospitality Companies, Auguest Schell's Brewery, Lockridge/Grindal/Nauen and Best Buy served up a first class meal for over 3,000 Minnesota National Guard family members. With all six events linked via live video, it was an intercontinental message of support and a simple thing...dinner with the family.
